THE VISIT - ARTICLE PAGE 1 - ARTICLE PAGE 2 - ARTICLE PAGE 3 - ARTICLE PAGE 4

Well, please forgive my silence - it's been a long few weeks preparing for Coastal Living's visit to our homes.  But every home looked great and their four day shoot at The Lodge went very well.  We'll be in the April 2004 issue and maybe even on the cover!

I waved good-bye to the crew on Thursday afternoon.  Went right home with Hunter and slept for two hours.  Now trying to get eight hours a night and catch up on the piles of work left in the wake of 30 days of marathon "Martha Stewarting" my homes.  Today, we're off to soccer in the am, and showing houses this afternoon.  Sunday School and a Cub Scout sailboat regatta tomorrow.  Maybe a nap here or there - Maybe finish the electric fence around our house - maybe get my cutting garden started (I can save a small fortune by growing my own flowers for the guest houses)  I started seeds about two weeks ago - now have to get the beds ready.  The devil finds work for idle hands and minds!

Here's a photo of the shoot (right) - it was so interesting to see how the writer, photographers and stylists worked together to get the image they wanted - here they used a table we had in another room, a lamp from Tara Haven, a bowl the stylist brought, shells from the beach and a pair of old binoculars borrowed from a neighbor.

My high school friend, Kitty Boswell (left), who is a personal chef in Jacksonville, came down every day to cook for the crew and the Mellon family.  We worked day and night!  We fed the family dinner at the Cottage, and carried plates to the crew who were exhausted and staying at Mad Lar.  We spoiled everyone rotten and they loved it all.  Kitty's going to be featured "In the Coastal Kitchen" for her fresh mango salsa.

We actually got to sit down for lunch on Wednesday.  Here's Colleen (right), one of two photographers (I think Allan went out to the dock to get away from all of us girls); me, the happy support staff; Whitney Long, the stylist; and Susan Anderson, the copy chief. What a great group of people.

It was a treat to step back into the corporate world for a few days - but to remain in our island setting!  They are all consummate professionals - what an honor to work with them! I'm so pleased to know that I've begun a wonderful relationship with this group and such a fine publication.

Well, got to run.  I'm like that little man on the Dunkin Donuts commercial "We make the donuts, we sell the donuts"  Have a great weekend!  Can't wait to see and talk with you all in the next few days - hopefully while I'm lying down!  Love always, Win
